Monthly coloring pages, including a one year anniversary page!

Published in and tagged on by Lindsay

It’s time for the monthly coloring pages! One of these will look familiar, as it’s the downloadable, non-vacation-announcement-text version of the Box Fort illustration I’m using for the comic’s vacation notice. So far, we haven’t actually assembled an intentional box fort from all of our moving boxes, but it’s most likely inevitable.

Box forts are the only true forts.

Box forts are the only true forts.

The other coloring page is an early celebratory illustration in honor of doing monthly coloring pages for a whole dang year! I started doing the monthly coloring pages last year after rebooting Fizzlebit. So far they’ve been super-fun, and I’ve even managed to collect the first 8 to 9 months or so of them into a full-fledged printed coloring book! Which should be for sale on the internet one day, when I’m not trapped by previously mentioned box forts.

First the cake, then the world!

First the cake, then the world!

Man, I wish I could bake a giant cake with a world cake on top, but I’ll have to settle for being able to draw it instead. As always, find these and other coloring pages over here!

On the moving front, this week is actually the week we close on our house (this is the grown-up terminology for “sit in a room and sign papers for forever and wonder if you’re making correct decisions). Then comes the crazy, maddening glory of moving, changing addresses everywhere, rampant cleaning of both apartment and house (well, mostly apartment probably), and shoveling pets between locations with the hope they won’t dislike us afterward. Oh, I guess we unpack somewhere in there? Sure!

Fanart Friday (on a Saturday!): Sharknado!

Published in and tagged , on by Lindsay

So I’m always up for a B-level Creature Feature. It has to have very specific qualities of awkward graphics, explosions, few explanations (or really silly ones), and lotsa ridiculous creature-induced death scenes. Which is why when SyFy created their super-bizarre franchise of Sharknado a few years ago, I was hooked. It helps that sharks were also involved: sharks are such bizarre, toothy creatures that have been around for millions of years!

Last year when SyFy did their sequel to Sharknado, I made a point of ordering classy beverages and drawing various Sharknado-inspired doodles as fast as possible and filled a page of my sketchbook with some awesomely crazy shark drawings. This year, I had intentions of doing some other work, but realized I can’t resist the pull that is Sharknado. This movie did not disappoint me in the ridiculous factors (SPOILERS! Sharks were in space, you guys)

If you you haven’t seen any Sharknado movies and enjoy movies that are Just Plain Silly, I highly recommend them. The first 2 happen to still be on Netflix as of this writing, and the 3rd will surely follow eventually. But SyFy will probably be kind enough to marathon them again on an upcoming weekend (maybe even THIS UPCOMING WEEKEND?!?).

Here’s my crazy stack of Sharknado 3 inspired doodles. Some of these might have to turn into fuller illustrations or stickers of some kind. Who can resist baby sharks?
